About Nalanda
Nalanda, in the Magadh region of southern Bihar, is named after the great ancient monastic university whose ruins are a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The district also takes in Rajgir, with Vulture Peak, where the Buddha is said to have preached, the Saptaparni Cave and the Ghora Katora lake; the headquarters is Bihar Sharif.
